Summary
Funding is available from New Mexico Space Grant Consortium (NMSGC) and
New Mexico NASA EPSCoR for faculty and staff from affiliate organizations
to receive support for research, education, or public service programs.
This program is structured to provide New Mexicans funding to expand space
related research, education, and public service in New Mexico. This award
supports the goals and objectives of the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium
Strategic Plan.
• New
Mexico NASA EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Development and NMSGC Research
Enhancement Program is expected to make awards for up to
$50,000. The programs are designed to provide seed funding to faculty
who are striving to conduct research that is directly aligned with NASA
Mission Directorates and NASA Field Centers. The purpose of the programs
are to build the core strength needed to develop competitive research
and technology development methods and activities for the solution of
scientific and technical problems of importance to NASA. Projects must
develop collaborative activities with NASA Field Centers and Mission Directorates
and have the potential for non-EPSCoR follow-on funding. Click here for

Asked Questions.
•The Education
Enhancement Program is intended to increase interest and
learning, within the education systems, in the areas of science, engineering,
technology, and mathematics, using the challenges of NASA’s mission
directorates. The overall goal for this program is to develop courses
and curriculum, including capstone design courses for undergraduate students
majoring in science, engineering, or technology disciplines; focus on
involving women, under-represented groups, and persons with disabilities
in all aspects of education, including fellowship awards, curriculum development,
and degree programs in scientific, engineering and technical fields; develop
instructional technology, technology transfer, and other technological
courses that use emerging NASA developed technology; develop programs
which will enhance or improve student retention and achievement. Funding
is available for up to $15,000.
• The Public
Service Enhancement Program is designed to facilitate the
appreciation and knowledge of aero/space-related issues of the general
population of New Mexico. Funding is available for up to $5,000.
• Travel
grants are available to encourage faculty to explore and
develop connections and collaborations with NASA researchers at Centers
and other NASA-supported research facilities.
• Capstone
design courses will be supported which integrate NASA’s
mission challenges and have a focus relevant to the future of space exploration
including spacecraft, propulsion, lunar and planetary surface systems,
and ground operations. Typical support includes $2,500 for project supplies
and student team travel. Course projects must support NASA approved projects
listed at: http://education.ksc.nasa.gov/ESMDspacegrant/
Eligibility
