Program Questions

  1. How does my school become involved with the New Mexico Space Grant Student Launch Project? Contact Aaron Perez at aaperez@nmsu.edu.
  2. How is the program funded? Spaceport America is funding the launch and NMSGC is funding the staff for training and support.
  3. What is the deadline for final presentations? TBD.
  4. Will there be a launch next year? Yes. NMSGC has designated this as an annual educational launch.
  5. Can NMSGC visit your school to present the information on the Student Launch Project? Yes! Please contact NMSGC office and make an appointment with our Administrative Assistant.
  6. Will NMSGC speak to multiple clases on any given day? Yes! If you would like us to speak to multiple classes, that can be arranged without any problem.
  7. Will there be a Hotel discount for the program teams? Yes. Contact Aaron Perez aaperez@nmsu.edu with: where you are staying, the number of rooms and which nights you are staying.
  8. Does NMSGC have a contract with any local hotels for rooms for this event? Yes. New mexico Space Grant has agreements with Hotel Encanto in Las Cruces. Spaceport America has agreements with hotels in Truth or Consequences.

Payload Questions

  1. After the launch, will we retrieve our payloads the same day? NMSGC ahsbeen notified by UP Aerospace that the payloads will be delivered to you.
  2. What if we don't retrieve our payloads the same day? Either UP Aerospace or NMSGC will mail them to you.
  3. Can we integrate a video camera or still photo camera onto our payload for the purposes of capturing video footage and pictures of the launch? Approval is required from White Sands Missile Range, UP Aerospace and Spaceport America prior to agreement.
  4. When is the deadline for delivering our payloads to UP Aerospace? UP Aerospace must have your payloads no later than 30 days prior to launch date.

Launch Questions

  1. Who is the launch/rocket provider? UP Aerospace.
  2. Where will the launch take place? Spaceport America.
  3. When is the launch date? TBD
  4. What time should our group show up at the meeting location? TBD
  5. Where is the meeting location?
    1. TBD
  6. What if I am late to the meeting location? Once the last bus has left the meeting locations, you will not be allowed to the launch site in a personal vehicle. Bus travel ONLY.
  7. What are the directions to Spaceport America (SA)? None will be provided. All participants must travel by bus.
  8. Has the timeline of launch events changed? In the event of a change of events, we will contact you.
  9. What time will we return from the launch? Plan on leaving SA around 10:00-11:00 am and returning to the original meetin glocation by 12:00 pm. or 1:00 pm.
  10. How many people are allowed to attend the launch? There is no limit, however, we will require that you provide the total number of participants that are attending, your travel arrangements, and complete the Bio-Form and email it to aaperez@nmsu.edu.
  11. Can family and friends attend other events such as the Launch Integration and tour? Yes. However, NMSGC requires that your RSVP for this event.
  12. Are children allowed to attend? Yes. We work with many students across New Mexico.
