White Sands Tour Highlights New Mexico’s Emergence as
Personal and Commercial Spaceflight Focal Point

During the early 1990s, engineers at the NASA White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) near Las Cruces, NM, developed a flushing and testing process for rocket thrusters. Attendees of ISPCS 2009 will have the unique opportunity to see the laboratories at WSTF where this and a number of other innovations have been developed that are now in wide use in the space industry.

“This is a working tour, led by knowledgeable guides who will provide hands-on briefings about this important facility,” said Patricia Hynes, ISPCS 20009 Chair. “

Frank Benz, NASA Manager of the test facility will also speak during the conference about work at White Sands and how it contributes to the personal and commercial space flight industry.

The tour of WSTF is schedule for Tuesday, Oct. 20, prior to the start of the conference. Registration is required at http://spacegrant.nmsu.edu/ispcs/registration.html

Unique Plenary and Networking Sessions
All ISPCS sessions are plenary, allowing everyone to receive the same information simultaneously. Responding to feedback, ISPCS has created multiple means of engaging the audience in discussions with speakers during sessions. Additional networking opportunities are scheduled throughout the two days.

Held October 21 and 22 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA, ISPCS is organized by the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium, a member of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
