As part of an examination of how satellites can be “downsized”, life-cycle and development time shortened, and costs lowered, a panel at ISPCS 2009 will discuss these topics at “Small Satellites for Orbital and Sub-Orbital Applications.”

Chaired by Clay Mowry, President, Arianespace, Inc., panel members will include:

•    John Paffett, Chief Executive Officer, Surrey Satellite Technology.
•    Mark Reavis, Deputy Project Director, Responsive Space Project Office, and PEO Missiles and Space Office, Department of the Army.
•    Jordi Puig-Suari, Professor, Aerospace Engineering, CalPoly.

“Part of the challenge of this next phase of space commercialization will be to understand the market, take advantage of demand for smaller satellites with shorter life cycles, and to integrate these drivers into technologies that will work with the new launch systems while increasing the market”  said panel chair Clay Mowry.

Unique Plenary and Networking Sessions
All ISPCS sessions are plenary, allowing everyone to receive the same information simultaneously. Responding to feedback, ISPCS has created multiple means of engaging the audience in discussions with speakers during sessions. Additional networking opportunities are scheduled throughout the two days.

Held October 21 and 22 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA, ISPCS is organized by the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium, a member of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
