The proceedings will be published on the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium home page, and the following instructions are to be followed as closely as possible:

A one page abstract should be submitted electronically as an email attachment, using WordPerfect or Word, to Joylynn Watkins no later than Monday, October 4, 2004.

A 3-5 page paper should be submitted electronically as an email attachment, using WordPerfect or Word, to Joylynn Watkins no later than Monday, November 1, 2004.

  • Papers are to be single-spaced with paper size 8 ½" x 11".
  • Margins are to be 1" on all sides.
  • Type style needs to be consistent from paper to paper. The preferred typeface is Times or TMS Roman, using 11 point type. This document is set in Times to give a clear sample to match. (If Times is not available, please use a typeface with serifs, similar to this example). Other type sizes are as follows: Body Text:11 point
  • Major Headings: Center between margins, 12 point bold, upper and lower cases.
  • Sub Headings: Flush left on margin of the paper on a separate line in 11 point bold, upper and lower cases.
  • Minor Heading: Indent, run at the beginning of a paragraph in 11 point bold, upper and lower cases.
  • The first page must contain the paper's title and each author's name(s), affiliation(s), mailing address(es), and e-mail address(es).
  • The title of the paper is set in 14 point Times bold, upper and lower cases.
  • The author(s), department(s), and institution(s) are in 12 point Times, upper and lower cases.
  • All type in the title block is centered allowing for a 1" top margin.
    The title must fit on two lines.
  • The authors' names should be separated by commas or "and". Please do not 'include degrees, honors, or titles earned.
  • The department should be centered under the authors. If the authors are from different departments, use superscript numbers to identify authors' affiliation.

An abstract not to exceed 300 words follows the title block on the first page. The paper should continue following the abstract on the first page.

List and number all footnotes at the bottom of each page where they are contained, allowing a 1" bottom margin. A line should be drawn to separate the footnotes from the main body of the paper. Set flush left by number in 11point Times italic, upper and lower cases.

Tables/Illustrations/Figures/Photographs:
Tables and figures must be numbered and referred to in the text.
Line drawings, black and white or color photographs, and graphics must be integrated into the paper file in the email attachment.
Captions should appear below the appropriate illustration/photograph as “Figure No.” in 11 point Times italic, upper and lower cases.

Bibliographic references should be listed and numbered at the end of your paper. When referring to them in the text, type the corresponding reference number in bracket form { }.

The numbering of pages is at the author’s discretion but is not necessary. Format for numbering is the bottom center of the page inside the 1" margin.

Although a biography is optional, authors are encouraged to include one at the end of each paper. Each biography should contain no more than 100 words and may include a passport-size color or black and white photograph.
