Graduate Research Fellowships

Awards for graduate students to work with faculty on funded research are $5,000 per graduate student for two academic semesters.

Graduate students may receive up to two years (four semesters) of funding from NMSGC. Students must re-apply each year.

In order to support as many students as possible, students receiving summer support from NM Space Grant maybe ranked lower in consideration for scholarship support. And, students receiving scholarship support from NM Space Grant maybe ranked lower in consideration for summer support.

Student eligibility requirements
• Enrolled at NMSU, UNM, or NM Tech

Evidence of declared major in the:
• College of Arts and Sciences (astronomy, biology, chemistry, Earth & planetary science, Earth & environmental sciences, physics, computer science, earth science, mathematics)
• College of Engineering (chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, materials and metallurgical, mechanical, mineral, nuclear, or engineering technology)
• College of Agriculture & Home Economics (animal and range sciences, entomology and plant pathology and weed science, fishery and wildlife sciences, plant and environmental sciences)
• Full time status
• United States citizenship
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

If a student becomes ineligible or drops out of the program before completion, unused funds revert back to NMSGC. Matching funds are encouraged for all applicants.
