"I was skeptical about the radical changes proposed
on my recalcitrant teaching methods. After all, I figured, they had already
produced good results. I went ahead and made the changes to my teaching
methodology based on GRASP recommendations. To my great surprise the learning
experience during the new and improved version of my course was more motivating
to students while making my teaching experience far more enjoyable. Both
passing rate and final grades improved considerably during the semester.
The students made very positive remarks in the student evaluations confirming
my original expectations that the course was more enjoyable and conducive
to learning." (Fernando Cadena, CAGE faculty)
“I have a better understanding of how to read student behavior patterns
and how to motivate students to participate and hence to learn more effectively.
In fact some of GRASP suggestions have significantly contributed toward
the evolution of my teaching style, which is now more interactive and fun
for the students, and which I think is more effective.” (Greg Reynolds,
Mechanical Engineering faculty)"
GRASP was the most beneficial teaching program in which I have participated.
The semester long involvement and real-time feedback made my feel for the
course much better, and I could see the improvement in the students' performance
as well. I found myself thinking that this was a special group, but I think
that what made them special was GRASP. This is the groundwork for long-term
retention." (Phil King, Civil Engineering faculty)
