The purpose of this project is to explore a dissemination methodology for a program developed at New Mexico State University (NMSU). The program called GRASP (Gaining Retention and Achievement for Students Program), has been successfully disseminated across disciplines at NMSU. GRASP will be disseminated at Dona Ana Community College (DACC) beginning in the fall-2006 semester. GRASP is designed to increase retention and achievement of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) undergraduates using a semester long faculty development program.

GRASP is unique in that it can be institutionalized at a university or community college within three years. Research results from the GRASP program at NMSU show that once a cohort of faculty on a campus have participated in the program and demonstrate improved student retention and achievement, their departments and colleges are likely to absorb the low-cost for faculty to participate in GRASP. Since the program provides documentation for tenure and promotion, faculty are more likely to participate and use the program practices as part of their regular teaching practices.

Program Goals:
1. Dona Ana Community College will assume financial responsibility to sustain the GRASP program by the end of the CCLI program.
2. Successfully disseminate GRASP to 50 DACC faculty over three years.

Program Objectives:
1. Increase student retention and achievement in classes of GRASP faculty participants by 5%.
2. Recruit diverse STEM faculty who teach a diverse student population for participation in GRASP. Faculty diversity will includes gender, ethnic and discipline diversity, additionally we will recruit faculty at various stages in their careers.
3. Refine the GRASP program for dissemination to DACC faculty.
